Ground-truth data layers

Field evidence, tied to the ground it came from.

Agricultural research is scattered across thousands of studies, and almost none of it is tied to the place it happened. So nobody can say with confidence what works, where. We read the methods sections, resolve the site to a real county, and keep the sentence that proves it.

Limited public sample, no form. Commissioned curation, validation, and delivery are paid.

What one row gives you

One row is one observation — a place, a season, and something that was actually measured there. Not a paper, not an abstract.

Where
State, county, county FIPS, and a field coordinate when the study reported one
What practice
Tillage class, cover crop, crop, irrigation — normalized, not free text
What was measured
Soil carbon, yield, emissions and similar, with units and sampling depth
How we know
The verbatim sentence, the method used to place it, and a confidence level
Where it came from
The study title and DOI, so you can go read it yourself

Who uses it

Model teams

Calibrating remote-sensing, crop, or biogeochemical models against something measured in a field rather than inferred from orbit.

Carbon programs & MRV

Backing practice claims with field evidence that survives an audit, including who reported it and when.

Commodity boards & funders

Showing what the research you funded actually found, and the counties it happened in.

Agencies & policy teams

Practice and outcome evidence at county grain, between the five-year census releases.

Every row quotes its source

Each observation carries the verbatim sentence it was read from, and the study it sits in. If we cannot show you the sentence, we do not sell you the row.

Counties resolve against real geometry

Every county matches the same polygons our maps render, so a FIPS code joins cleanly to yours. A location we cannot place is left unplaced rather than guessed.

Thin evidence stays quiet

Agreement rates are suppressed below five comparable observations, and a practice measured under a different definition is flagged, not silently compared.

Ways to work with us

Choose the level of stewardship the decision requires. We price the work, not the row, because more rows are not the same as better evidence.

Answer one question

Focused evidence set

From $10,000one-time

Bring us one decision, claim, or model question. We define the geography, practice, and years together, then curate the smallest evidence set that can answer it honestly.

  • One agreed question and a decision-ready CSV
  • Every observation linked to its source sentence and study
  • A fixed deliverable your team can keep, test, and audit
Scope one evidence question
Keep it current

Living evidence license

From $25,000per year

Build decisions on an evidence layer that grows with the research. Your team gets county-year observations with the provenance, confidence, and definitions needed to use them responsibly.

  • County- and crop-year-resolved observations
  • Normalized practices, measured outcomes, and source context
  • Bulk delivery without per-call metering

Source reconciliation

From $45,000per year

When providers disagree about the same county, we show where the numbers diverge and whether the cause is measurement, coverage, or two definitions being treated as one.

  • Per-provider agreement by county, year, and practice
  • Definition matching so like is compared with like
  • A field-checking priority list for the disagreements that matter
Resolve conflicting estimates

Where this stands today

We would rather tell you than have you find out. The corpus is real and growing; the county-year panel is being built out of it now, and the first tranches are curated to order.

1,142
published records indexed in this corpus, each linked to its source of record
31
records with a source-reviewed county or field site in the structured layer
Growing

Paid project intake

Start with the question, not a package.

Choose the path closest to the work. We'll use your real portfolio, model, or decision to define a small first version before proposing a larger build.

All organization-specific curation, validation, analysis, delivery, and maintenance is paid. Custom work begins only after a written scope and fee are agreed.

Build a ground-truth layer

Develop a source-backed evidence layer for a model, claim, report, or decision that needs defensible field context.

Specify the decision and required grain

Keep every value tied to its source

Validate the layer before full delivery
