James S. Lin, Marcos V. M. Sarto, Tiffany L. Carter, Dallas E. Peterson, Colleen Gura, Laura Mino, Megan Rohrs, Hallie Lucas, Jamie Clark, Charles W. Rice • Unknown Hub (2023)
“We found an association between increased carbon, aggregation, and AMF biomass. Greater soil aggregation, carbon and AMF were observed in NT at 0–5 cm soil depth. The W-S cropping system had greater soil microbial community composition based on fungi biomass, AMF and fungal to bacteria ratio from phospholipid fatty acid analysis (PLFA). Large macroaggregates were positively correlated with total C and N, microbial biomass, Gram + , and AMF. Soil water content was positively correlated with macroaggregates, total C and N, and AC. No-till increased soil carbon content even after 44 years of cult”
Asifa Hameed, Cristina Rosa, CHERYLE A. O’DONNELL, Edwin G. Rajotte • Pennsylvania Soybean Board (2023)
“No soybean variety tested in Pennsylvania was immune to soybean vein necrosis virus, and the variety Channel3917R2x attracted the most thrips, making it the preferred host. Thrips feeding alone, and especially combined with virus infection, cut soybean growth and photosynthetic performance and altered seed protein, oil, fiber, and carbohydrate content.”
Jisung Geba Chang, Martha C. Anderson, Feng Gao, Andrew Russ, Haoteng Zhao, Richard Cirone, Yakov Pachepsky, David M. Johnson • Unknown Hub (2025)
“Mapping subsurface water pathways with ground-penetrating radar plus surface elevation explained corn and soybean yield variation far better than topography alone (error dropped from 23.7% to 15.3%, and to 10.0% when remote sensing was added). Even without costly subsurface surveys, adding surface flow accumulation cut error to 18.4%, making hydro-topographic zoning a practical basis for site-specific management.”

“Soil organic matter, permanganate oxidizable carbon, and autoclaved citrate extractable nitrogen are positively associated with soybean yield, but planting date remains more influential.”

“A 2-year study was conducted in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Ontario in 2013 and 2014 to determine the effects of planting date, seed treatment, and cultivar on plant population, sudden death syndrome, and grain yield of soybean (Glycine max).”

“Modeling of tile-drained corn–soybean fields in Iowa (validated to within 6% for corn and 13% for soybean yields) showed drainage boosts soil oxygen in wet springs, which spurs deeper rooting that later buffers summer drought, raising yields about 6% — but it also increases subsurface flow and inorganic nitrogen leaching.”
